Our story
Emmett Russell Architects are a Bristol based architectural practice engaged in a broad portfolio of work including projects in housing, urban design, education, community buildings as well as bespoke residential projects.
Understanding the context of our projects is central to our approach. Whether we are working within a listed building or on vacant land we aim to turn the constraints and conditions of the site into opportunities. In this way we are able to realise the full potential of each project, developing unique buildings that ‘belong’ to their place.

Project: Redland House

This project is for a new private house that sits on a triangular site between terrace of gable fronted Victorian houses and a railway embankment in Redland, Bristol. The house uses the unusual site geometry to create a dynamic series of spaces over three storeys. The house’s roof form echoes that of the adjacent terrace. At ground floor the house opens up to maximise the connection with the garden at the rear.
