The Practical Planning Company is an award-winning architectural design firm founded in October 2019 and based in Derbyshire. Serving homeowners across the East Midlands and specialising in home extensions, we provide homeowners with the whole design and planning package. No hidden fees. No confusion. No stress. Just practical, high-quality plans and advice.

We produce professional detailed plans for planning permission and technical drawings for building control, giving our clients everything they need to get accurate quotes from builders or even build their home project themselves

We’re designers at heart, with a passion for creativity and over 15 years’ experience in the construction industry. Driven by a commitment to unparalleled customer service and providing the very best in architectural design, we want to equip our clients with the knowledge they need, so they don’t feel lost along the way. We wanted to offer a service to everyday homeowners which makes them feel safe and secure when designing and building their dream home.

We’re a family firm (husband and wife duo) and we pride ourselves on going over and beyond our clients’ expectations, evidenced by our 5* reviews across Google and Trustpilot, with comments on our attention to detail, high-quality plans, quick turnarounds and expert advice (in person, on our website and in the press).

Although we’re a relatively new company, we’ve already helped over 200 clients with home improvements, extensions, new build designs and more. We’ve achieved several award wins as well as finalist positions in prestigious award programmes including The Small Awards (organised by Small Business Britain). We’ve also achieved some exciting press coverage across a selection of local news sites, as well as national newspapers including the Daily Mail, and magazines such as House Beautiful and Grand Designs.
