Our story
Established by Catrina Stewart and Hugh McEwen, the practice works on a variety of new-build multi-unit housing, high street regeneration, and public realm projects. These buildings celebrate the colour, materiality, and narratives of the everyday use of these new spaces. This has been recognized in the practice being named as BD's 'Young Architect of the Year' in 2020, shortlisted for Dezeen's 'Emerging Architect of the Year 2020', part of the Rising Star cohort by RIBA Journal in 2019, winning a prize at the New London Architecture 'Don’t Move, Improve!' awards 2018, being nominated as a finalist for The Architects’ Journal 'Small Projects' award, and the practice’s work appearing in Elle Deco, Vogue, the Guardian, and on several BBC programmes.
“Office S&M is certainly one to watch.”

Project: Valetta House
2017
Ealing, London
A family in Ealing, with three children, commissioned Office S&M to refurbish their house and extend to create a generous living space on the ground floor and a new bedroom in the loft, so that each child had their own space in the house.
“The greatest joy of this renovation is that the architects have made the alterations so personal to us, with several pockets of space created to fit around how we live.” - Rachel and Chris, clients
