Our story

Bureau69 Architects is an award-winning architecture studio in SE London founded and directed by Max Strano, an Architect with 20 years of experience. Our focus is on crafted residential design, refurbishments and renovations, bespoke furniture design. We have also expertise in residential developments and Listed Buildings. Bureau69's projects are appreciated for the innovative design. The last achievements are Best Italian Interior Design Project (award 2018), British Home Awards (shortlisted 2018), Best Bespoke Furniture Design (awarded 2019), Innovation and Excellence (award 2019), ArchMaraton USA 2020.

We believe in architecture as a form of liveable art, which has the power and the responsibility to transform the client’s practical needs in design to increase the quality of life. We are inspired by the natural light, material textures, and colors, and our design is oriented to the attention to technical details, research of materials and new possibilities in use, harmonious proportions, and care in the representation of drawings.

Our objective is working with a traditional and artisanal approach, with advanced knowledge, a contemporary language, and an international hint. We tailor each project to the client’s needs, researching the “spirit of the place” (genius loci), acting with a holistic approach, and proposing a sophisticated design for any budget.

We set the relationship with the client based on transparency, constant communication, and listening. We firmly believe that the client represents a key element in the creation of living space, therefore the knowledge and the dialectical deepening are preparatory and necessary factors for the success of each project.
We do not believe in labels and branded architecture, we rely on a traditional method of making architecture that springs from the place, processes the material, and reinterprets it in respect of the program, the needs, functions and performance of the building.
