The bathroom is one of the easiest places to really express your sense of style.

With so many wonderful options for tiles, lighting and taps, there has never been a better time to create a stylish modern bathroom.

We have seen a surge in popularity of black taps and black framed shower screens, as well as touches of gold and brass throughout the bathroom. While the monochrome looks reigns supreme, with so many wonderful takes on it, we are also loving seeing splashes of bold colour to really inject some personality into this space.

If you are thinking of renovating your bathroom in 2021, we have picked out some of our very favourites to give you some modern bathroom ideas!

A modern mid century bathroom

This modern bathroom in the home of @bethjamison on Instagram is one of our absolute favourites.

The terrazzo sinks are so on trend and are a great idea if you want to introduce just a little of this contemporary material. We love the rectangular shape too which contrasts so well with the curved mirrors.

The narrow metro tiles laid vertically create a different look and works so well with the long mirrors - both of these products are a huge trend which we will see more of.

The warm neutral tones combined with the strong black works beautifully and creates a fabulous mid century look.

Brass combined with dark colours

This modern bathroom idea from Insta account @house_on_the_way is an absolute masterclass in how to create a contemporary monochrome look.

The bold black and white floor tiles are softened by the beautiful herringbone wall tiles. We love the contrast of the grey painted walls too, which creates a warmer look than if they had been kept white.

The brass finishes bring a touch of luxury to this bathroom, giving it a sophisticated look. Brass works so well with dark colours too, allowing it to really stand out.

The hanging pendants are so striking and are a wonderful idea for a modern bathroom, they are so simple yet create such a feature and really bring the whole scheme together.

Vibrant tiles to create a sunny bathroom

This modern bathroom is full of joy from the home of @karenanita on Instagram.

The pink wall tiles are so much fun and create a great feature in this beautiful bathroom. Combined with the patterned blue floor tiles, the look is so striking.

The black framed corner shower contrasts perfectly with the pink and gives some definition to the area. As we continue to see the crittall look surge in popularity for shower screens, choosing a black frame is a subtle nod to this wonderful bathroom trend.

The curved shower maximises this space and allows room for the beautiful freestanding bath.

There are so many ways you can add colour to create a modern bathroom, including bright tiles on the wall and floor or opting for a bold sink or bath.

Concrete to create the ultimate industrial look

The industrial look is one that continues to be so popular everywhere in the home, and the bathroom is a great place to go all out for a really modern bathroom.

This bathroom by Merrett Houmøller Architects shows how to make the concrete look work perfectly. The walls blend seamlessly with the concrete sink and bath, which creates a streamline look in this bathroom.

The lighter tiles on the floor keep the space bright, as does the white ceiling.

We love this simple crittall style shower screen with the wide panels, working perfectly in the wetroom area. The brass finishes complete this modern bathroom style, creating an industrial look.

Mixing tiles for a feature shower

We adore the contrasting tiles in the shower of Instagram account @ck_homestyle

Using both the metro and vintage tile in the shower area creates such a wonderful focal point. You can do this with contrasting colours of tiles too, which would look amazing.

Greenery continues to be so popular around the home, and we love the natural modern look here with the green wall, light oak console and the brass finishes.

This bathroom shows that when you are creating a modern bathroom, don't hold back on texture and mixing patterns as it can work so well, creating a really individual space.

Grey and gold creates a stylish contemporary look

This bathroom design from Instagram account @the_streatham_project goes to show that small spaces can be some of the most stylish.

The grey hexagonal tiles work so well here and flow seamlessly with the larger format on the wall. We adore the gold accessories that really add a modern look.

By keeping the shower screen plain and having a wetroom floor, the space feels much bigger than it is.

If you have the budget when you are renovating, it can be worthwhile including a small en-suite in a bedroom like this one. It doesn't need to be huge but can be so practical and may add value to your home.

A modern twist on vintage

This bathroom by @interior.therapy on Instagram shows how to create a modern look for a traditional bathroom in a period property.

We love the narrow vertical metro tiles in the shower cubicle and on the walls, the black edge works so well to define the area too. Combined with the patterned feature floor tiles, they have created a modern vintage look.

The crittall style black framed cubicle is stunning and the style is right on trend. This look could also work so well in a much smaller space too.

Panelling and terrazzo add so much texture

There is so much fabulous detail in this beautiful bathroom (@whitstable_view) whilst having a sense of calm and tranquillity.

The terrazzo tiles in the shower are so striking and work well with the large concrete effect tiles. We love the muted green panelling behind the bathtub which defines the bath area and is a wonderful modern bathroom idea.

The brass taps add warmth and tie in so well with the terrazzo...just beautiful.

Monochrome for the perfect modern look

Monochrome continues to be one of the best looks when creating a modern bathroom. With black taps being so popular right now, it's easier to create the look subtly combining them with light tiles.

This bathroom from Instagram account @doingupduke has perfectly nailed the monochrome look in this modern bathroom, whilst keeping the space lovely and bright.

Freestanding baths continue to be popular and this curved shape works so well in the modern bathroom.
